The Corporate Director of Risk Management will develop, coordinate, and administer facility wide systems for risk identification, incident investigation, error reduction/prevention, and occurrence review and reporting. This individual is responsible for corporate wide risk management activities such as overseeing the risk management program on a day to day basis, conducting risk assessments, collecting, analyzing, and reporting risk management data, developing and implementing risk education programs, and ensuring program compliance with federal and state regulations as well as regulating agency standards. It is expected that the Director of Risk Management will maintain a network of information sources and experts, perform risk surveys and assessments, assess for potential compensatory events, and provide input for claims management. This individual is expected to work closely with organizational leaders, keeping them informed of pertinent events and trends, and providing them with feedback and direction in an effort to maintain patient safety, enhance the quality of care, general safety and ensure evidence based practice. The Director of Risk Management is accountable for providing guidance and expertise to staff at all levels, including physicians, is expected to recommend system/process changes when appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, legal studies, or clinical studies
Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience in healthcare leadership, healthcare legal, risk management, quality, patient safety, or healthcare accreditation and regulation
Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience in employee supervision
FL Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager within 12 months of date of hire or transfer Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) within 12 months of date of hire/transfer
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Evidence of superior written, verbal, problem solving and presentation skills
Experience with public speaking and teaching adult learners
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and manage key internal and external relationships
Professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to lead others and be an effective change agent
