The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Senior CLS Supervisor (Pre-Analytical) to supervise all activities of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing in the Support Services area of the Clinical Laboratory. In this key position, you will directly manage a team of Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT) and Hospital Laboratory Technicians (HLT). Primary duties include:

•Oversee daily operations of the lab, which includes technical issues regarding phlebotomy, specimen processing, send out testing, and referral lab reports
•Assist with developing and implementing performance standards to ensure optimal delivery of service that meet quality, cost efficiencies and customer service goals 
•Participate in strategic planning, budget and productivity goals, staff personnel administration, purchasing, expenditure control, space utilization, building and equipment security and maintenance 
•Participate in 24/7 on call rotation

Qualifications

•Current and valid California State CLS License
•At least four years of CLS experience 
•Experience working in a high volume clinical laboratory 
•Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex technical protocols/procedures to personnel at all levels of the organization
•Skill in the following areas: pH testing on urine; quality control; perform phlebotomy on all age groups
•Ability to develop, operationalize, and monitor budgets 
•Ability to resolve complex personnel issues, involving interpretation and application of established policies and procedures
•Ability to establish cooperative working relationships
•Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments
•Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise outside of normal working hours
