The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care system (GCVHCS) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with recent experience in inpatient and outpatient Cardiology patient management. The incumbent will be part of the Cardiology Department within the Medicine Service. The incumbent will provide care in the Acute Care Unit, the Critical Care Unit, the Cardiology Clinic, and the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. The Nurse Practitioner will provide expertise in the detection and treatment of various health related diseases in inpatient and outpatient Cardiology patient management. Duties include but not limited to the following: Collaborates with Cardiologists, Cardiology Technicians, Primary Care, Specialty Care, Mental Health, Physical Medicine, Consult Management, Subspecialties, and Surgical Services to provide high quality patient care. Provides feedback and patient education to patients and their families, demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care, and meet or exceed compliance standards. Facilitates communication regarding cardiac related consultations or concerns with patients, their families, VA providers, and non-VA providers. Performs diagnostic exams including stress tests, nuclear stress testing, and stress echocardiogram testing. Provides consultative services on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/ or affiliated VA outpatient clinics and perform administrative function and other tasks as assigned the Section Chief for Cardiology Service. Consultations will include written and electronic documentation. Expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. Adheres to stated policies and provide timely documentation of clinical notes (e.g. history and physical, consult review, discharge summaries, medication reconciliation, etc.). Coordinates and communicates the treatment plan with hospitalists, primary care providers, nursing, social workers, clerical staff, pharmacy, and other subspecialists and ancillary staff. Ensures that high quality patient care is delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner.
