This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The incumbent will be part of the BHIP(Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program)Team in our outpatient Mental Health Clinic, providing assessment; group, couples, and individual psychotherapy; and consultation services for veterans with a wide range of mental health diagnoses. Training and experience with evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, IPT, EFT, PE, CPT, STAIR) and working with patients with complex psychiatric presentations, including those with elevated risk for suicide, is required. Experience with evidence-based treatments for Eating Disorders or interest in this area is preferred. Responsibilities also include acting as liaison with the Compensation & Pension office and coordinating MH C&P exams provided by the Psychology Section (0.1 FTE). The incumbent will conduct C&P exams for veterans seeking VA disability benefits and provide or arrange coverage for such exams as needed. Additional expectations include flexibility of work tour, including some early evening hours, supervision of psychology trainees and the provision of seminars and didactics. Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine is encouraged. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions for face-to-face appointments at NYHHS, full-time telework may initially be possible; under normal operating circumstances this position is based on site at the Manhattan VA.
