The North Florida/South Georgia VA Healthcare System is recruiting for a Supervisory Medical Technologist, which is aligned under the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center located in Gainesville, Florida. This position has full supervisory responsibility in a complexity index group 1 laboratory or in a complexity index group 2 laboratory that performs at least one million Standard Billable Tests annually (reported to the Laboratory Index Program). The Supervisory Medical Technologist supervises a large staff of nonsupervisory personnel, recommends appointment, plans and assigns work, provides advice and counsel and evaluates work of subordinates. Duties include: Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of highly complex test performance Plans and schedules on-going work; sets short and/or long term goals for the section and conducts studies on technical and administrative problems, including personnel shortages, organizational structure, new technology, etc. Manages document control, develops performance standards, position descriptions and functional statements Responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of performance Chooses methods for achieving work goals, objectives, and management strategies Assures orientation, performance plan, training and competency assessment of staff is completed timely within the established timeframe for each Uses advanced computer skills with computer applications to generate work-related information for supervisor Implements and monitors quality management activities Assures corrective action is initiated when test performance deviates from established performance specifications Ensures all staff and affiliate staff are in compliance with accrediting and regulating bodies Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
