This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Provides medical services to Veterans on an outpatient basis in the primary care setting. Veteran populations we serve are mostly male, with diseases consistent with those seen in the general population, namely diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, COPD, mental health disorders, amongst others. Comprehensive primary health care for women is also required. A primary focus of practice is on preventive medicine. Participates in the provision of Pain Management, Mental Health, and End of Life Care to Veterans in the primary care setting as required. Participates in the use of clinical practice guidelines, provision of standard of care to patients, and meets relevant performance measures as mandated by Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Reports quality of care issues promptly through established mechanisms. Maintains timely and complete patient medical records that meet Compliance Program and Joint Commission requirements. Mentors Nurse Practitioners (NP) and/or Physician Assistants (PA) on a daily basis. Guides clinical management of complex patients consulted asked by mid-level providers, including patients with pain issues, and those requiring narcotic management.
