The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center located in Rochester, NY is actively recruiting for a fellowship trained spinal cord injury rehabilitation medicine subspecialist.
We continue to track on a rapid faculty and programmatic growth curve supported by a newly renovated 11 private bed acute inpatient neurorehabilitation unit opening in 2023 in addition to our current 20 bed CARF accredited acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. This position will work closely with current PM&R faculty to provide clinical expertise within the spinal cord injury rehabilitation service line, focusing primarily on spinal cord injury consult service, managing dedicated spinal cord injury inpatient rehabilitation beds and supporting the large spinal cord injury patient population at our hospital and in our community. This position’s role will have a component of program development consisting of evolving the spinal cord injury rehabilitation medicine service line. In addition, there is ample opportunity to pursue academic and scholarly activity and interests. This includes support of the education mission consisting of teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students as well as the support to pursue research interests, including the opportunity to interface with clinical trials associated with the Department of PM&R UR Neurorestoration Institute as well as work interface collaboratively with the Departments of Neurology/Neurosurgery Del Monte Neuroscience Institute. This position comes with a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
Ideal candidates would be BC/BE and fellowship trained in spinal cord injury rehabilitation medicine with experience managing spinal cord injury patients and would also have a keen interest in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students.
