The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of Vermont Health Network seeks an academic hematopathologist to provide diagnostic services in the Hematopathology section of the clinical laboratory. This is a full-time position with a faculty appointment on the Clinical Scholar Pathway (non-tenure) at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor Rank as appropriate based on previous experience and academic rank. The successful candidate will work in the Division of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center as part of the UVM Health Network. The applicant must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Hematopathology. Strong diagnostic skills are essential. Collectively, our hematopathologists are expected to review approximately 600 bone marrow biopsies, 600 tissue specimens, 2,200 flow cytometry cases, and 2,000 peripheral blood smears this current year. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills and experience, and hematopathology faculty are expected to work collaboratively with the laboratory technical staff in hematology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and genomic medicine. Leadership roles may be available to candidates who possess appropriate experience and desire. The UVM Health Network spans the academic medical center and five community hospitals, and the faculty of the Hematopathology service continue to help lead coordination of diagnostic services across the Network. The candidate should be an enthusiastic teacher with scholarly interests and accomplishments in clinical, translational and/or health services research.
